A slipped disc, also known as disc bulge, herniated discor a ruptured disc, is a condition in which one of the intervertebral discs in the spine is damaged and its inner gel-like core (nucleus pulposus) protrudes or leaks out through a tear in the outer layer (annulus fibrosus).
