Chiropractic adjustment is the most common form of treatment utilized by chiropractors in clinical practice. Also known as spinal manipulative therapy, adjustment is a non-invasive, manual procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed through four years of intensive chiropractic. Adjustment is a carefully controlled procedure delivered by a skilled practitioner to dysfunctional spinal or extremity joints.
The primary goal is to restore function, decrease nerve compression whereby reducing pain and stiffness. Chiropractic adjustments improve areas of joint restriction, adhesion in spinal tissues, and increased muscle tightness or spasm. In effect, by improving flexibility, strength and function, the body is able to work at its’ most optimal performance.
Sports Massage/Myofascial Release Therapy
Our professionals utilize various state of the art soft-tissue techniques. These systems treat problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Over time, with imbalance, repetitive strain or over-use, these tissues develop adhesions (scar tissue build-up). These adhesions change body-movement(biomechanics), compression nerves and restrict joints, which over a prolonged period may lead to pain, immobility and decreased overall health.
Sports massage as a therapy may add benefits such as quicker muscle recovery, improves blood circulation which helps the body get rid of the muscle tension incurred during exercise, fixed position poor-posture or acute injury allowing the in flux of more nutrients to the muscles and tissues.
Flexibility is also improved with the warming and stretching of soft tissues which improves muscle tone.
Rehabilitation assists in restoring health, function and strength to the body in cases such as; immediately after a new injury or after prolonged chronic postural change due to degeneration.
Many overuse or repetitive strain injuries can be traced to an imbalance in the body, The body works as a unit and as such when there is additional stress or overwork in one area, there is another area that is weakening over time. The imbalance can eventually lead to pain or worse yet, an even more serious and irreversible condition. These weak links in the body-chain are addressed during the rehabilitative phase of your care plan and an individualized program is administered specific to your needs.
Rehabilitation to your body will balance strength with flexibility and facilitate proper body-movement(biomechanics) and function. Emphasis will be placed on assessing core body strength and awareness. All exercises prescribed will be suited to individual patients’ need and progressive in nature.
